Karen Youmans, MPA, RHIA, CCS
Karen Youmans is the Founder, President and CEO of YES HIM Consulting. Ms. Youmans has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry and the HIM/Coding profession. Ms. Youmans’ career has also included Executive Vice President of national healthcare consulting firms; Practice Manager and Content Expert at AHIMA; Assistant Professor at the University of Central Florida; and Coding Product Consultant and Client Resource Specialist for an encoder company. Karen is an SME on coding consulting, coding compliance and corporate training. Ms. Youmans has been President of Gulf Coast FHIMA (1987-88), State Advisor at SEHIMA (1990-92), President of FHIMA (1990-91), member of the Board of Directors (1994-97) / Chair (1993-94) / Director (1993-94) at AHIMA.
Walt Youmans, BA
Mr. Youmans is a strategic business professional with a broad range of experience in the field of Information Technology. His expertise in computer systems and networking technology has been an important asset in the growth and expansion of YES HIM Consulting, Inc. and our ability to serve the needs of our clients. Mr. Youmans has over 30 years of experience in military, broadcasting, and health related technologies. Mr. Youmans has a Bachelors degree from Regents College.
Vanessa Youmans, MA, RHIA, CCS, CPC
Vanessa Youmans holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from St. John’s University and a Master’s degree from New York University (NYU). As COO, Vanessa oversees multiple critical areas, including Inpatient, Outpatient, and Professional Fee Coding and Auditing Services. She holds several distinguished credentials, including a Register Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), and AHIMA-Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer. Furthermore, Vanessa served as the Secretary for GCHIMA (Gulf Coast Health Information Management Association) for the 2019-2020 term and as Committee Chair for Coding at FHIMA (Florida Health Information Management Association) for 2020-2022.
Nick Youmans, PhD
Nick Youmans is responsible for managing the organization’s physical and technological infrastructure. His role involves overseeing the development and maintenance of the company’s facilities, such as office buildings and data centers, and implementing and managing the organization’s technology systems. Mr. Youmans practices his growing knowledge of “agile” approaches to project management, which he has acquired through courses undertaken to obtain his certification as a Scrum Master. Nick is responsible for managing the financial activities and accounts of the organization, collaborating with the CEO, Accountants, and Financial Advisors surrounding the company’s finances. Nick holds bachelor’s degrees from Flagler College and the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, a Ph.D. from the University of Dresden, and a certificate from the FSU Small Business Executive Program and Certificate Foundations in Financial Modeling from Financial Modeling Institute (FMI).
Mari E. Cely, MBA, PMP
Mari E. Cely is the Director of Business Strategy & Client Services with YES HIM Consulting, Inc. She provides a wealth of experience as a strategist, product manager, and project manager for multinational corporations. Prior to joining YES HIM Consulting, Mari worked for a Fortune 200 Company, with extensive experience in project management, business strategy, data science, and communications. Mari worked for a Fortune 100 Company as a Regional Product Manager, leading product development and revenue share business initiatives. She has previous experience as a Marketing and Consumer Behavior educator, in English and Spanish. Ms. Cely is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), holds an undergraduate degree in Marketing Engineering from ESPOL, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Tampa. She is an active member of AHIMA, FHIMA, and HFMA. Mari currently serves as the FHIMA Social Committee Chair 2020-2022.
Elizabeth Kelly, RHIA
Ms. Kelly holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Management from the University of Central Florida. Elizabeth has 25 years of experience in acute care facilities, with a variety of roles within the acute care setting ranging from Transcription Manager, IT Project Manager to HIM Director of a 320-bed acute care facility. She is an experienced leader in HIM with an excellent record of successfully managing multiple facilities volume and operations including JCAHO, coding, cancer registry, medical library, accredited CME program, transcription, as well as privacy officer. She has extensive experience with health information management technology, particularly in the areas of electronic health record, transcription, dictation, CDI and coding, and has expertise in the implementation of computer systems for HIM. She was named Outstanding New Professional and Outstanding Professional by FHIMA and served as Committee Chairman on several FHIMA committees. Elizabeth is a member of AHIMA and past President of SWFHIMA.
Jennifer Dilley, RHIA, CCS, CDIP
Jennifer Dilley has over 17 years’ of experience in HIM and has worked for YES HIM Consulting, Inc. for over eight years. Jen currently serves as Director, ProFee Services, at YES. Jen has worked on a variety of projects for YES, including coding services, coder mentoring, clinical documentation improvement mismatch reviews, and coding audits, including Inpatient and Outpatient/ProFee. She has helped plan and implement a Clinical Documentation Improvement program for a large multi-facility client as well as ICD-10-CM projects. Ms. Dilley also worked on several other miscellaneous projects, including complication audits, Medicare 1- to 2-day stay reviews, and reviewing ProFee billing edits. She is currently overseeing the daily operations of the Profee department’s multiple projects.
Amy Davis, RHIA, CDIP
Ms. Davis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Management from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. She has in depth knowledge of health information operations with an emphasis on coding and reimbursement and significant experience with implementation of quality improvement systems to comply with Joint Commission and regulatory agency standards. Amy has been a Manager of Coding and Operations in an acute care setting and has assisted with implementation and training on the Cerner Document Imaging System and managing the Recovery Audit process. She has worked as an independent coding consultant, coding specialist, case mix manager and DRG validation analyst. She has taught coding and medical terminology classes and participated in the clinical documentation improvement process. Amy is an AHIMA-approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer and a Clinical Documentation Improvement Practitioner.
Kristie Thomas, RHIT, CCS, CPC
Kristie Thomas is the Director of Outpatient Coding Services with YES HIM Consulting and has over 15 years of experience in Health Information Management. Kristie has a history of leading exceptional teams at YES to successfully support the coding needs of numerous hospitals and facilities. She has a well-versed background in Inpatient, ProFee, Same Day Surgery, Observation, Emergency Room, and Ancillary modalities. Mrs. Thomas has vast knowledge of electronic health records and abstracting systems. She is an active member of AHIMA, AAPC, and has served on OHIMA’s Coding Roundtable Committee.
Brian Lankenau, HCISPP
Brian Lankenau brings over 20 years of expertise in IT, network, and data analysis, including 6+ years as a HIPAA Privacy and Security Officer. His experience spans both large and small organizations in highly regulated industries such as healthcare and banking, where he grew to focus on security and privacy. As a certified Health Care Information Security and Privacy Practitioner (HCISPP), he excels in safeguarding sensitive data. Additionally, he has successfully managed small teams of IT and data professionals, demonstrating leadership and a commitment to operational excellence.
Nikki Wright Trowbridge
Ms. Trowbridge has over 20 years of experience in administrative support positions. She has worked for both medium and large healthcare consulting firms that conduct business nationwide. She uses her analytical skills to complete complex tasks and solve problems while “thinking outside the box”. While working in the Health Information Management (HIM) industry, she has received training in Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) policies, and understands the importance of privacy and confidentiality and is an AHIMA approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer. Nikki is a great asset to our team. She is an active member of AHIMA and SHRM (Society of Human Resources Management).
