The latest PCS update doesn’t introduce any new guidelines. However, there are two revisions, one addition, and one deletion. Guideline B5.2b has been modified and renamed as Percutaneous endoscopic approach with hand-assistance or extension of incision. It now encompasses hand-assistance and exteriorization of a body structure.

Guideline B6.1a in the General Guidelines for Devices no longer includes the parenthetical examples. These examples were related to situations where a device needed to be removed before the end of a procedure, even though it was intended to be left in place after the procedure was completed. The guideline now only includes the coding for both the insertion and removal of the device. The two examples previously found in parentheses, regarding inadequate device size and documented complications, have been removed.
