Medical Coding Education & Training
The Refresh With YES: ICD-10-CM HIV Coding Learning Path includes an overview of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), as well as instructions on how to assign specific ICD-10-CM codes that report the different stages of the HIV infection. Learners will explore the characteristics and pathophysiology of the HIV diagnosis, stages of the disease, and HIV treatments. Applicable guidelines and Coding Clinic articles related to HIV coding, as well as ICD-10-CM coding of medical reports and case studies, will be reviewed.
The Refresh With YES: CPT Integumentary – Lesion and Wound Repair Learning Path teaches learners how to code the removal of skin lesions and repair of lacerations, divided into 12-19-minute webinars. This learning path also reviews applicable CPT guidelines, CPT coding examples, and CPT Assistant articles.
The Refresh With YES: ICD-10-PCS Spinal Procedures Learning Path discusses in detail how to code several spinal procedures, such as scoliosis treatment, fasciotomy, and osteotomy, divided into 11-16-minute webinars. Learners will find out how to apply ICD-10-PCS codes for spinal fusion, specifically in the cervical area of the spine. The PCS codes for the diagnosis of scoliosis and various treatments for the disorder are also discussed. This learning path provides an overview and the PCS codes for fasciotomy, osteotomy, and spinal decompression procedures. Applicable Coding Clinic articles, as well as real-world coding selection scenarios, will be reviewed.
The Refresh With YES: ICD-10-PCS Orthopedic Procedures Learning Path shows learners how to code several complex orthopedic procedures, such as different types of common joint replacements, divided into 12-20-minute webinars. This learning path dives into definitions, examples, devices, and qualifiers for these joints: hip, knee, ankle, and shoulder. Other subjects discussed include the treatment of fractures using an open approach with internal fixation surgery (ORIF), as well as the different types of ICD-10-PCS detachments. Learners will also review applicable Coding Clinic resources.
Outsourcing no longer means time-zone hopping overseas to find reliable, skilled, and affordable medical coding and auditing companies dedicated to achieving high coding productivity and quality standards. It is increasingly common for healthcare organizations to outsource coding overflow and quarterly audits by sourcing talent from a U.S.-based company. YES HIM Consulting is proud to be a premier coding, auditing, and education preferred partner to large-scale healthcare systems, individual hospitals, physician groups, and more around the U.S.
Coding audit data can be extremely beneficial to the success of a healthcare organization – however, oftentimes, the vast amounts of data being collected can suffocate the organization, especially those that don’t know how to cultivate value and act on the insights received from the audit process.
The Refresh With YES: ICD-10-CM Acute Myocardial Infarction Diagnoses Learning Path teaches learners how to classify and code the different types of Acute Myocardial Infarction diagnoses. Symptoms of acute myocardial infarction diagnoses, as well as acute myocardial infarction coding guidelines, will be discussed. Learners will also review coding examples and Coding Clinic resources.
The impact of COVID-19 has been felt everywhere, including the release of the IPPS Final Rule. Generally released in late July or early August, the 2021 Final Rule was released on September 2 and published in the Federal Register on September 18, 2020 (CMS, 2020). The effective date, October 1, 2020, stays the same, offering an especially short turnaround time for analyzing and implementing the provisions of the rule.
The Refresh With YES: CPT Integumentary – Flap Grafts and FNA Learning Path shows learners how to correctly assign codes for Integumentary Procedures, including flap grafts and fine needle aspiration (FNA), divided into 9-18-minute webinars. This learning path specifically discusses CPT coding for flap grafts, such as adjacent tissue transfers/rearrangements and pedicle flaps. The differences in codes for FNA and core needle biopsy (CNB) procedures are explored, and examples of coding FNA procedures with CNB are provided. Learners will also review the applicable CPT Assistant advice and CPT coding guidelines.
The Refresh With YES ICD-10-PCS Cardiac Procedures: Heart Assist Devices Learning Path teaches learners how to correctly assign codes for complex cardiac procedures, such as heart assist devices, divided into 13-19-minute webinars. This learning path dives into the different ventricular assist device types, including short-term external and implantable devices. The root operations of “Insertion,” “Removal,” and “Revision” will also be discussed. Learners will review ICD-10-PCS Guidelines, coding examples, and Coding Clinic resources.
