The Florida Health Information Management Association (FHIMA) will hold its 2021 Annual Convention at the JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort & Spa, 14900 Chelonia Pkwy, Orlando, FL. It will run July 19 – 21, 2021. Does Your Documentation Meet the MEAT Criteria? By Karen Youmans, MPA, RHIA, CCS
This presentation will focus on the necessary documentation and coding practices to fulfill the MEAT criteria for HCC chronic condition diagnoses assignment for Risk Adjustment. During the presentation, Karen will provide a brief overview of the overall Risk Adjustment methodology for Medicare Advantage. She will also go over the Principles of Risk Adjustment. In addition, Karen will cover the CMS-HCC model’s structure. To show the practices in action, various examples for adequate Risk Adjustment documentation (acceptable and unacceptable sources of data) will also be provided. She will also give detailed examples of chronic condition documentation utilizing the MEAT criteria. Karen will analyze clinical scenarios, MEAT criteria, Risk Adjustment Factors, and HCC calculations.
The presentation will be held in the Griffin A ballroom from 2:10 pm – 3 pm Eastern.
